Dumbwaiters - Never out of style!

Dumbwaiter- for those of you who don't know about the existence of dumb waiters, it's a small elevator used to bring food from the kitchens below and carry dirty dishes from the dining room. It is a hidden and essential device in almost every mansion, cafe and restaurant. These sturdy small service elevators get designed to transport goods, not people, between floors.

The term 'dumb waiter' is because the elevator first got used in  as  Home Elevator for large homes with their kitchens and household staff in basements or servants' quarters. These servants used the elevator to carry food and dishes upstairs to the dining room and back down as a link from the kitchen to the restaurant, allowing customers to isolate the noise and smell of the kitchen. The origin of the term is simply because this elevator was a way to have your waiter silent, unseen and unheard.

This lifting device has been in use for thousands of years. The first recorded use dates back to around 200 BC, during the time of the Romans. An architect described the installation of a dumbwaiter by elevator installation companies in UAE to allow the movement of goods. Unlike what people usually believe, even in the 21st century, the service lift is still alive and well, and in most modern, chic bars, restaurants, clubs and pubs, it still serves as a quiet and invisible 'waiter'. It has become a reliable workhorse and indispensable for catering companies spread over more than one floor.
